Careers at Wicehtowak Constructors Ltd.
The ultimate benefactors of Wicehtowak Constructors Ltd. will be the George Gordon First Nation.
As a populous, George Gordon First Nation is a largely younger band. A Saskatchewan Health study in 2012 found that the two working demographics (20-34 and 35-64) make up nearly 600 members of the First Nation, while the next generation – 1-19 year olds - account for 512 individuals.
Preparing for the future of George Gordon First Nation, thus, becomes vital, and Wicehtowak Constructors Ltd. is setting up to take the lead in this effort. Recognizing a shortfall in skilled labour, DMS Industrial Constructors Inc. and GGDL have come together to provide opportunities for George Gordon First Nation band members to learn on site as they work within their commercial territory.
As part of the current K+S Legacy Project, George Gordon First Nation individuals are job shadowing with DMS Industrial Constructors Inc. tradespeople on site, learning the valuable areas of expertise that will lead them to apprenticeships and help fill the daunting anticipated shortfall in skilled labour Canada faces over the next decade.
Future projects will offer opportunities to George Gordon First Nation band members. If you are interested in being considered for one of these positions, please complete the form below.
